Both outright selections finished inside the places, and Ghim won his round 3 3-ball by five shots. Andrew Novak won the VidantaWorld Mexico Open on 25 under, five clear of Kristoffer Ventura and Steven Fisk. Three of the five bets paid and made 9.70 points, the other two lost 1.50, and the week finished 8.20 points up.

Doug Ghim 18/1, 2pts e/w, +5.20

VidantaWorld Mexico Open, tied sixth at 18 under

Ghim shot 65, 68, 64 and 69. He was tied eighth after round one and third after round three, seven behind Novak, then closed with a 69 on a day when Ventura and Fisk both shot 63 and moved up to second. He finished in a five-way tie for sixth with Erik van Rooyen, Brian Campbell, Tom Kim and Pierceson Coody. Those five shared sixth to tenth, exactly the ten places, so there was no dead heat. The place part returned 9.20 on a two-point stake, the win part lost two points, and the net was +5.20. It is a second placed bet on Ghim, after the Bank of Utah Championship at 22/1, and this one came with a 3-ball winner on top.

Ben Griffin 20/1, 1pt e/w, +3.00

VidantaWorld Mexico Open, tied fourth at 19 under

Griffin shot 64, 67, 67 and 67, and was never worse than tied fourth after any round: tied third after round one, tied second after round two and tied fourth going into Sunday, eight behind Novak. He finished level with Mackenzie Hughes, a shot behind Ventura and Fisk. The place part returned 5.00 on a one-point stake, the win part lost one point, and the net was +3.00.

Ghim and Davis 6/4 and 13/8, +0.50

Round 3 3-balls, Saturday 31 October

Ghim’s 64 beat Jackson Suber’s 69 and Marco Penge’s 73 by five shots or more, so the 6/4 won and made 1.50 points. Penge had started the day a shot clear of the group. Davis went the other way. He shot 73 against Sudarshan Yellamaraju’s 66 and Nick Hardy’s 71, and the 13/8 lost a point. Davis then shot a 63 on Sunday, ten shots better, which was no use to the bet.

Griffin and Dahmen 15/4, 0.5pts double, −0.50

Round 3 double, both 3-balls to win

Griffin did his part. He shot 67 against Adrien Dumont de Chassart’s 71 and Kensei Hirata’s 69, so the 9/10 leg won. Dahmen shot 69 in a group where Cameron Tankersley shot 67, so the 6/4 leg lost and the double went with it. The double cost half a point.

The correction

Both each-way bets were logged on Thursday with five places at 1/4, which was a mistake. They were struck at ten places at 1/5. Griffin’s entry was also labelled in-play, which was wrong, because he had not teed off when it was logged. The ledger cannot be edited, so three correction entries, #74, #75 and #81, were added this morning, Monday 2 November, after the tournament, and they carry today’s date and not Thursday’s. The Thursday entries are unchanged, and the Thursday preview carries a note saying what was corrected. On the five places first entered, Ghim’s tied sixth would not have paid, and the week would have finished level at 0.00 and the season at +4.96. At the ten places the bets were struck at, they paid, and the week finished 8.20 points up.

The week

Griffin and Ghim were both in the top ten, Ghim won his 3-ball, and three of the five bets paid. A 73 from Davis and a Dahmen 69 were the two that cost points. The season stands at +13.16 points from 63 points staked, a return of 21% on 38 settled tips.

Prices are those posted on Thursday 29 October and Saturday 31 October. Each-way stakes are per part, so the five bets were 8.5 points in all, and all five are settled on the record. The original tips and reasoning are in the preview and the round 3 write-up. The next card goes up on the home page before Thursday’s first tee.
